How to Lose 20 Pounds in 2 Weeks
There are a lot of people wondering how to lose 20 pounds in 2 weeks, and although it’s not something I’d recommend doing, there is still some information I’d like to share with you if this is your weight loss goal.
A healthy rate for losing weight is closer to one or two pounds per week, but it definitely is possible to lose an extreme amount if you’re dedicated and only doing it for a short while.
Two weeks is just 14 days and at this rate you’ll need to lose more than a pound per day to reach your 20 pound weight loss target.
It’s going to be a lot easier at first, especially because you’ll be losing water weight, but you’ll quickly hit a plateau from the water pounds your shedding and you’ll have to rely on more effective methods.
Keep in mind that losing weight fast means that you need to burn a lot more calories than you’re consuming.
Not only are you going to have to eat less than you normally would, but you’re going to have to exercise much more than normal as well.
In this post I want to share with you a few tips and techniques about how you can make an effort to lose 20 pounds in 14 days.
How to Lose 20 Pounds in 2 Weeks
Step Up the Exercise
You’re still going to want to eat something while you’re trying to shed this weight fast so to counter-act the calories you’re taking in you’re going to want to drastically improve your activity levels.
This means increasing your metabolism so that it can start burning your body fat well after you’re done working out or exercising.
There are plenty of ways to get some quality exercise and boost your metabolism and some of my favorites include things like:
- Lifting weights for 60 minutes or more
- Jogging or running every day
- Speed walking throughout the day when you’re not running or working out
- Trying to be more active rather than just sitting around
- Drink more caffeine for a metabolism boost (black coffee is ideal)
- Eat a low carb, high fibre diet
- Drink plenty of work
- Make sure you’re getting enough sleep
- Eat a healthy diet with lots of greens and veggies
- Get enough fat in your diet
These different factors should help to give your metabolism a little boost and have it running high whenever you’re trying to quickly lose weight.
Eat Slightly Less Than You Normally Would
For the 2-week period when you’re trying to lose 20 pounds fast you should consider eating a little bit less than you normally would.
I recommend going back up to your normal weight loss diet as soon as the time has passed but for a quick loss you can try skipping dinner or fasting to avoid putting down those extra calories.
Exercise will help but it’s a lot easier to not eat as much than to out-exercise too many calories at a time.
Make sure you’re drinking a lot of water and if you start to feel sick or you notice something wrong then you’ll want to visit your doctor as soon as you can.
Skip the White Carbs
One of the most effective ways to quickly lose weight is to reduce your carb intake, and the easiest way to do this is to avoid eating the more unhealthy white carbs.
The reason for this is because white carbs, such as white bread, have been highly processed and really don’t contain many nutrients that your body will benefit from.
Eating too many white carbs in a single sitting will also rapidly increase your insulin levels and this is going to result in your body storing and retaining more fat than if you simply avoided them entirely.
One more issue with white carbohydrates is they tend to be very calorie dense, so you only need to eat a small amount and you’ll already be taking in hundreds of calories in a single sitting.
Some of the different carbs you’re going to want to avoid include things like:
- Anything with added or refined sugar (soda, beer, etc)
- White rice and non whole-wheat pastas
- Cookies, pastries, or other carb-based sweets
You’re much better off eating something high in fiber, such as vegetables, or some protein, such as chicken or fish.
Avoid Junk Food
Not only should you skip the carbs, but you also want to avoid eating any junk food or binging on fast food when you’re trying to lose 20 pounds fast.
Fast food and junk food isn’t healthy at all, even the so-called “healthy” options aren’t good for you, and they’re packed with calories that you don’t need.
They’re also made from fatty and greasy ingredients and, depending on what you get, the different menu items are likely packed with sugars and preservatives that you’re better off avoiding.
Try to go for whole foods and healthier choices rather than taking the easy way out and picking up some fast food or snacking on junk food throughout the day.
At the same time you’re also going to want to avoid drinking any soda because liquid calories, especially in the form of concentrated sugar, aren’t going to help your weight loss efforts in the least.
